About the Plan
During the first 2 years of FRI’s existence, our Conceptual Committee worked to chart a path for FRI’s long-term success, including defining FRI’s vision, mission, guiding values, and strategic goals.
This plan is the culmination of their work, creating a path for FRI’s growth, progress, and program goals for the next five years. Our plan has goals in four focus areas: movement building, shared learning, technical assistance, and funding and development. It also has two internal focus areas—sustained funding and collaborative governance—to ensure FRI is durable and can support frontline communities for the long term.
As more money and resources are available to address environmental justice, it is more important than ever to ensure that the concerns and proposed solutions of the frontline activists who launched and sustained the movement are not sidelined. FRI has a key part to play as a collaborator, convener, partner, and ally to support the achievement of power, justice, and self-determination for frontline communities and Indigenous peoples.
Our 2024-2029 Strategic Plan sharpens our focus around these principles, and centrally around our vision: creating a just, sustainable, and joyful future where frontline organizations are leaders, delivering environmental and climate justice for all.
